Presenting the Erebus Motorsport V8 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG V8 Supercar driven by Will Davison at the 2015 Coates Hire Sydney 500.
Most V8 Supercar fans would remember the 2015 Sydney 500 street race as the penultimate round of the 2015 season where Mark Winterbottom capped off a great year to secure his first championship in the series after 13 years of trying. While that was a fantastic moment to come from the round, others would also remember some of the amazing looking cars which raced over that weekend and you would be hard-pressed to find a better-looking car than Will Davison?s Penrith backed Erebus Motorsport entry.
Just prior to the final round of the season, Erebus Motorsport V8 announced their retro-inspired livery for Davison?s #9 entry which celebrated the history of major backer Penrite Oil. Featuring Penrite’s historical branding, the livery celebrated their upcoming 90th anniversary. The predominantly white, blue and red livery for the Penrite car was a major departure from their familiar modern branding of black, red and gold and the result was very impressive with many punters claiming it was the best V8 Supercar livery seen in a long time due to its simplicity and throwback to the ?golden days? of Australian motorsport.
While the results weren’t the best for Davison over the weekend (he hovered just outside of the top ten for the majority of the round) it was the car that fans of the driver and team would eventually remember. The 2015 Coates Hire Sydney 500 would become the last time a Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG would be seen racing in the V8 Supercars Championship.
This 1:18 Scale model will be produced in die-cast with fully opening parts other than the boot with detailed engine bay and racing interior. It will be produced in a limited edition and will come with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
Given how impressive the livery looked and the fact that this model represents the end of the Erebus / Mercedes era, it will be a special model for collectors to add to their collections.
