You would be hard pressed to find anyone in Australia who had never heard of the Holden Monaro, regardless of whether they are a motoring enthusiast or not. The Monaro is one of the most revered names in the Australian automotive industry and this iconic car has been turning heads in its numerous forms since its inception in 1968.

While the original Monaro of the late 60?s and 70?s are unquestionably iconic and beautiful cars it was perhaps the development of the more contemporary third generation version in 2001 that further enhanced the legacy of this famous Holden beast. The third generation Monaro had a round-about way of making its appearance to the Australian Market. In 1998, Holden unveiled a Holden Commodore Coupe concept car at the Sydney Motor Show to much hype and acclaim, and it didn?t take long for the motoring media to describe it as the new Monaro. While it can be argued that it wasn?t the initial intention of Holden for this new concept to become an addition to an existing nameplate, public demand started growing and orders begun to flow into the Holden HQ so the move was taken to re-design the concept for production. By 2001, the Monaro was launched at a reported cost of $60 million and 22 months of development.

After numerous versions of the new modern Monaro, in 2004, Holden unveiled a limited edition CV8-R in Pulse Red which was featured at the 2004 Melbourne International Motor Show. Based on the Series III, the Pulse Red edition featured 18-inch five spoke alloy wheels, front and rear lamps with silver vision globes, black chrome exterior badges and a Holden By Design sunroof.
